Job Summary

Constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead line systems of all voltages (33kV and below) on wooden, concrete supports, and any other structure applicable to the wind farm.

Job Details

1.    Participate in the construction and commissioning of overhead lines, supports and foundations for overhead lines. 
2.    Perform routine maintenance and repairs on overhead equipment and hardware.
3.    Install insulators, fastening components, and accessories
4.    Diagnose and repair faults in overhead lines 
5.    Test insulation, voltage, and continuity of the overhead cables.
6.    Ensure the safety of other workers and comply with safety codes and procedures, especially when working at height and with electrical work.
7.    Control the vegetation beneath overhead lines, around turbine bases, and WTG transformers
8.    Report to the supervisor on matters related to overhead lines and related equipment maintenance.
9.    Carry out basic wiring of the electrical system in the service building and cable termination and gladding in the cubicles.
10.    Installation and fitting of the electrical equipment in the substation and any other areas that might be assigned from time to time.
11.    Any other role that may be assigned by the supervisor.
12.    Act in compliance with LTWP policies, procedures, and HSE Golden Rules.
13.    Ensure robust implementation, auditing, and continuous improvement of: 
i.    Permit to work Systems 
ii.    Lock Out/Tag Out/ Test Out (LOTOTO) procedures
 

Requirements

  1. KCSE certificate holder with minimum grade of D+ and above
  2. Knowledge of high voltage best practices and safety 
  3. Physical strength and endurance to climb and stand for long periods- fit for work
  4. Ability to use power tools, test equipment, and measuring instruments 
  5. A government trade test electrical certification will be an added advantage
  6. Five (5) years of relevant experience in the construction, operation, and maintenance of overhead lines
